Find every difference between two texts

The Text Diff Checker compares an original text with a changed version and highlights exactly what is different. Added content is shown in green and removed content in red, so you can review edits at a glance. It works for articles, contracts, product descriptions, configuration files and source code.

How to compare text

  1. Paste the original version into the left box.
  2. Paste the new version into the right box.
  3. Choose whether to compare line by line or word by word.
  4. Click Compare and read the highlighted result and the summary of changes.

Line mode and word mode

  • Line mode is best for code, lists and files where each line is a unit. It shows which lines were added or removed.
  • Word mode is best for prose. It highlights the exact words that changed inside a sentence, so small edits are easy to spot.
  • Ignore case and ignore extra spaces help you focus on real changes rather than formatting.

Who uses a diff checker?

Editors use it to see what a writer changed between drafts. Students check what was changed after feedback. Lawyers and business owners compare contract versions before signing. Developers compare snippets of code or configuration when they do not have version control at hand. SEO specialists compare page copy before and after an update to understand ranking changes.

The comparison uses the same longest common subsequence method used by professional version control tools. It runs privately in your browser, so confidential documents stay on your device.
