What is a PDF merger?

A PDF merger joins two or more PDF files into one document. Instead of sending five separate attachments, you can send a single file that opens in the right order. This tool copies every page of each file, keeps the original page sizes and quality, and places the pages one after another in the order you set.

Because the merging happens inside your web browser, your files never leave your device. That makes it suitable for contracts, invoices, medical forms and other private paperwork that you would rather not upload to an unknown server.

How to merge PDF files

  1. Drop your PDF files onto the box above, or click it to choose them. You can add more files at any time.
  2. Check the list. Each row shows the file name, size and number of pages.
  3. Change the order with the up and down arrows. On a desktop computer you can also drag rows into place.
  4. Remove any file you do not need with the cross button.
  5. Click Merge PDFs. The combined file downloads as merged.pdf.

Features

  • Any number of files, limited only by your device memory.
  • Easy reordering with arrow buttons that work well on phones and tablets.
  • Live totals for the number of files, pages and combined size.
  • No quality loss: pages are copied as they are, not re-printed or compressed.
  • Private: no account, no upload, no watermark added to your result.

When merging PDFs is useful

Job seekers combine a cover letter, CV and certificates into one application file. Students join lecture notes or scanned assignment pages before submitting them. Small businesses gather an invoice, a delivery note and a signed order form into a single record. Landlords and tenants merge a lease with its inventory and photos. Anyone filling in online forms that accept only one upload will find a merger handy.

Tips for a clean merged document

Put a cover page or table of contents first so readers know what follows. If one of your files has pages in the wrong orientation, fix it first with the Rotate PDF tool. If you only need part of a long file, use Split PDF to extract those pages before merging. Very large scans can make the merged file heavy, so keep an eye on the total size shown under the list before you email the result.

Password protected PDFs cannot be merged because their contents are encrypted. Open them in a PDF reader, save an unprotected copy, and then add that copy to the list.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a limit on how many PDFs I can merge?

There is no fixed limit. The practical limit is the memory of your device, so dozens of normal documents work fine, while hundreds of large scans may be slow on a phone.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. The files are read and merged by your own browser. Nothing is sent to our server or stored.

Will merging reduce the quality of my pages?

No. Pages are copied into the new file without being converted or compressed, so text and images look exactly as before.

Why does a file show an error in the list?

The file is either damaged, not a real PDF, or protected with a password. Protected files must be unlocked in a PDF reader before they can be merged.
