SERP Snippet Preview
Preview your Google result on desktop and mobile before publishing.
What is a SERP snippet preview?
SERP stands for search engine results page. Each result on that page is a snippet made of a title, a URL line and a short description. The snippet is your first impression in search, and it decides whether someone clicks your page or the one below it. This tool shows a close imitation of a Google result for your page on desktop and mobile, so you can fix titles that get cut off or descriptions that say too little before you publish.
How to use the preview
- Enter the page title you plan to use.
- Enter the full page URL. The tool turns it into the breadcrumb style line Google shows.
- Paste or write your meta description.
- Optionally add search words to bold, the way Google highlights words that match a query.
- Read the counters and warnings, then adjust until both previews look complete.
- Copy the finished title and description tags.
Why pixels matter more than characters
Google does not cut titles after a fixed number of characters. It cuts them when they no longer fit the available width. A title full of narrow letters like “i” and “l” can be longer than one with wide letters like “W” and “M”. This tool measures the real width of your text in the browser using the Arial font at 20 pixels for titles and 14 pixels for descriptions. Titles wider than about 600 pixels and desktop descriptions wider than about 920 pixels are shortened with an ellipsis, just like in real results.
Features
- Desktop and mobile previews side by side as you type.
- Pixel and character counters with colour coded feedback.
- Breadcrumb URL built from your domain and path.
- Keyword bolding to see how a matching search might look.
- Warnings for missing, short or overlong titles and descriptions.
Tips for better snippets
Lead with the words people search for and keep the most important information in the first half of the title. Avoid repeating the same phrase several times, which looks spammy. In the description, answer the question behind the search and add a clear benefit such as “free”, “step by step” or “in 5 minutes” when it is true. Remember that the preview is a guide: Google sometimes rewrites titles and descriptions, adds dates or site names, and changes its layout over time. A clear, honest snippet is still your best chance of being shown as written.
Frequently asked questions
Is this exactly what Google will show?
It is a close simulation based on Google's typical fonts and widths. Google can rewrite snippets, add dates or change its design, so treat the preview as a strong guide rather than a guarantee.
How long should my meta description be?
About 120 to 160 characters usually fits. The tool measures pixel width and warns you when the text goes past roughly 920 pixels on desktop.
Why is my title cut off even though it has fewer than 60 characters?
Wide letters, capitals and symbols take more space. The tool measures real pixel width, so it shows the cut where it is likely to happen.
